What did you get in the mail or bring home for your MKVII today?

Happy day. Osram chrome edition came in the mail today. I can’t wait to switch out the halogens to these. Still waiting on the chrome striped grill from ECS.

Does anyone kno what exact spots to seal to prevent condensation?
Coming up on 3 years with mine. I didn't seal anything, no condensation. There's no reason you should have to seal anything.

There is this thread... but these were defective lights.

I'd use some protective film on the lenses and call it a day. All I did with mine and they look brand new. Your lights may briefly fog the first night or two you use them after install. I had this and it hasn't come back since in about 3 years. Seems a few others have had the same experience. I would guess it's something with the lights running for the first time.

28 NOV I hit some kind of animal which broke the lower grill, some trim, and somehow hit the radiator hose braking the inlet out of it. Yesterday I finally got a call from the collision center about the damages, $6500 total. I was about to raise hell, since the damage from the accident was not that great other than the radiator until he detailed the issues. They are replacing both headlights and the radar sensor as part of the accident, both headlights had a lot of the micro marring that GTIs are known for, and the driver side has a large crack from top to bottom. But he said there is damage to the core support among other things.

I asked about the possibility of replacing the radiator with an aftermarket one. He said they don't order them, but if I provide one they will deduct the price they would pay off my deductible, $189 for an off-brand replacement. I placed an order for an ECS aluminum radiator, I know they are not the best, my first option was either CSF or Mishimoto... but at $300 less (on sale for $245 shipped) for a larger full aluminum triple-pass radiator was not a hard choice to make.

Just received from UPS my new "shoes".

TUV certificated Flow Formed Wheel

I'm gonna match them with Continental SportContact 7.

My scale adds 1.1 kg. So i've measured myself without and with the rim at my hands and it's 7.9kg (not 8.1).

i would love to order these, but given they don't have side markers / reflectors, in my state i would be having to swap them back every year for inspection. :(
i keep trying to brain-storm how to add a side marker / reflector somewhere just so that i could run them.

Damn y’all have thorough inspections. DC just plugs an OBD reader in, scans for codes, and calls it a day. Maybe some adhesive reflectors you can temporarily stick on the fenders like the Mk8 has?

You own a MK7 or MK7.5?

They sell two models. I ordered the MK7 for the non lightning package.

Definitely going to PPF. I'm going to a tint shop this saturday. They sell PPF film and have a computer that has them precut already. Charging me $120. Not sure how much PPF usually goes for as this is my first time ever PPFing anything. Price sounds about right.

Guy who sold me the IE intake works there and said they do it at his job.

Was it really plug & plug for the dynamic turn signal?

To be fair it depends on where you get it inspected. But given my luck...
Not to mention the 5am bored officer who notices you don't have 'em. Again, given my luck...
So to that point i wouldn't feel comfortable unless i had the full side-marker lights as well. i've scoured the web looking for side-markers from other cars and the like and pondering on where i might be able to cut and mount them so as to not ruin the car. Thought maybe the trim piece for the fog light might work. Dunno. Would be great if Osram made a set for the US market though.

Lots, mostly, things folks won't care about, broken into a few posts because I'm on my phone...

Insert for the engine fuse box to hold the 40A for heated windshield. Connectors for the windshield, one wire with a pretty large pin (stupid repair wire for this pin is $60 so I'll source the pin elsewhere).

Little brackets attached in the rain tray to guide the connectors to the windshield. Almost certainly unnecessary, but if we're going to do it, let's do it. They are cheap and I already had stuff coming from e-acca.

Left flag pins that are in connectors all over the car. Ceiling plugs for when you're using these outside of the cabin. Connectors for heated washer fluid nozzles.

And why do only the long roofs get a 60 hertz outlet in the back? Super simple retrofit, don't know why I didn't do this before. Need to order the little flip up cover for it.

Didn't get any kind of shipping notification from e-acca, but my power folding mirrors showed up unannounced today!
