I had to get up early today, so took the opportunity to drive a favorite road free of traffic and experience a fantastic sunrise. I'll be needing to tear into the car again soon to correct a few small issues and install the replacement dogbone mount. The car has just shy of 5,000 miles on the transmission/diff/subframe now, its been getting lots of use! This setup has been rock solid reliable and a dream to drive, and I'm excited to get going on some needed mantinence and more refining of the build🤟

Some unfortunate news since my last update- I was on a canyon cruise in late July and slid the front end into a guardrail. Tires were too worn and driving too hard. I made the decision to rebuild the car myself.

After getting the car home and through close inspection, the passenger tie rod was found to be the only bent suspension component. Obviously there will be body work involved.

I took the car to a reputable local shop and had them install the replacement dogbone insert, as well as a new wheel bearing/hub and the Superpro top mounts that I have had lying around. After a new alignment and a set of RT660s the car is driving better than ever!

While the car was down I also made the decision to move to a MPI setup in order to run full E85. I was able to complete the install without too much trouble, and it is currently running on a basemap pump gas file. Lots of tuning to come!

I have all the new body parts sitting in my dining room currently. Need to get the car to a bodyshop soon to get it buttoned up, but the naked look IS kinda cool...

This was a late night run with a few friends. The accident was at a low speed & I drove it to the closest pull off lot. No authorities or insurance involved. MPI file Rev. 2 felt pretty awesome yesterday!

The real culprit was my negligence not checking tire wear- outer edges were healthy, but the inner tread was showing cords. Obviously paying much closer attention to everything moving forward.

I know. I jokingly brought that up since someone posted an article about a gti side sweeping a cop car and it was due to understeering

Another month and the car is *almost* recognizable lol.

I got the frame straightened out (was purely cosmetic, thankfully!) then installed the new bumper, fender, and door.

Also had the great idea to try my hand at wrapping... Think ill leave it to the pros from now on, but I like the color! Still trying to figure out what I want to do with the paint/wrap situation.

Tuning the car has been slow progress. Initially we were seeing knock everywhere. New plugs did not help, and we eventually settled on poor fuel quality.

This past week I've had some fun testing the initial E85 maps, and the car is much happier than on 91. Might try to get it on a dyno and get some "finished" numbers soon to see what she makes.

Still lots of work to do on finishing up the front end repair (fender liners and underbody trays missing, fog lights disconnected, etc.) but it's getting there!
