Picked up this 2015 MK7 today. After wrecking my previous GTI 2 years ago now, I'd never quite gotten the car out of my system. While browsing marketplace I stumbled upon perhaps the cheapest non wrecked GTI ever. Loaded it onto a trailer and got to work.
The car is a 2015 6MT Autobahn with 255,000 miles and in 100% stock form. The seller claimed bad head gasket and the car would not start.
Upon initial testing with a fresh battery, there seems to be an ECU issue. I'm getting the error message "keyless Access Faulty, along with every.single.light. on the dash lit up. The car will go into accessory mode and give me the usual engine whirring noises, but will not attempt to start.
The oil is milky and full of water. Looking to either tear down & rebuild this motor, or swap in a lower mileage unit from a wrecked car. Either way, it's got to come out, and I'm expecting to rebuild or replace the trans as well.
The body & interior are in excellent shape, so the plan is to get it sorted and leave as stock as possible. Feels great to have something to work on again. Will keep this thread updated with it's progress.
