Ok, we're on the knock threshold now. Tune might get a few tweaks but most of the power is now on tap. Obviously it's not fair to compare the L450 on pump gas to the IS38 on an ethanol blend, but that's what i'm going to do.
It's very close to as fast on pump gas with the L450 as it was with the IS38 on E30-E50.
From 90-150mph (just so happened to be the best range to compare with old logs done on the same stretch of road) it's 3 tenths slower with the L450 than it was with the IS38. 12.9 seconds vs 12.6 seconds.
IS38 was on E30 with 14.5 degrees of timing, L450 is on pump with 7.8 degrees.
I had a completely full tank of fuel tonight, not sure what the fuel level was with the IS38 run.
60-130 via datalog is 9.5 seconds, which is about accurate because this is slightly downhill and would not be a valid run. IS38 ran a best of 9.73 via Dragy on a .6% decline, but most pulls were closer to 10.0. I think the L450 on pump will touch the high 9s..maybe it will surprise me with less fuel in it and match the IS38s time on ethanol.
Once the tune is final i will dyno. It made 399/434 IS38 on E50, i think it will make over 400whp on pump with this turbo but doesn't run quite as fast because it doesn't have the monster midrange torque.
When this one has some octane it will be a different animal, i'm sure.
One other note, from 35-150mph IATs went up 14 degrees with the IS38. Same run with this turbo saw a 21 degree increase, so it is definitely a bit more taxing in the intercooler.
More data soon.
