Littco L450 Arrived!

I'll have Jeff from UM do the tuning. Should have some feedback in a couple weeks.

https://www.facebook.com/thelittleturbocompany/

Specs:

  • 52mm 7+7 compressor wheel.
  • 52mm turbine with OE blade profile.
  • Upgraded thrust bearings.

Pic #2 Side by side . Stock IS38 thrust washers vs. upgraded. If you want to run 29 psi reliably then you need to upgrade from stock. 144% larger than stock and better designed thrust bearing.

Pic #3-4 Was balanced to less than .3g.

Pic #5 Collar on the left is the stock IHI. On the right Littco has their modified one to use with their thrust bearings. These are custom made solely to work along side the thrust bearings and retain the stock backplate and bearing housing.

Pic#6 Is a Littco customer's dyno with Littco tuning. This is flywheel @ roughly 25psi.

Pic#7 is Littco customer's dyno with Littco tuning. This is at the wheel @ roughly 25psi.

Pic#8 My car on 91 octane stock fuel system with L450. Had a bit of knock retard from shitty fuel and the reason for the drop up top. 28psi.

Pic#9 Improved thrust bearing design with three oil feeds. Tested at 2.8bar.

So is this a "send your core" and they upgrade and send back?

It's just another option. Picking a hybrid is like motor oil, you go with what you like. They all have their strengths.

I have been in communication with Dan for years and he was helpful in answering turbo related questions in the past. For me it was who I wanted to go with. Dan has been messing with the ISXX as long as anyone and has figured out what works and doesn't I feel.

I feel the tuning is more important than who of the top hybrid makers to go with. Having full control over the ECU and TCU (if DSG) is very important to making these operate correctly.

Who do you use? I'm thinking of going with Frank from Mabo as all I hear is good things
