Ordered a set of Extreme Contact Sport 02 to be installed tomorrow at Discount Tire. I am running PS4S right now and decided to change because once they went past 20k miles they started humming/howling and it has only gotten worse. I have almost 30k on them, still have some life but the noise is too annoying at this time. All my miles are highway miles as I commute around 75+ miles a day to work, no track at all.

From the reviews here and online I think the only minus about the change is a little less wet traction, but I am not sure I will notice as I only daily the car.
Literally just talked with @dtfd about these. Let us know how they handle in the first rain storm

I hope it is within the first 30 days... so I can trade them for PS4S. LOL, I had the old DW on my GTO and they did great, but that is a much heavier car and RWD, hopefully they respond the same. This is my first set of PS4S and I am very disappointed with the noise level, it's almost truck tire noise, I went down from 37 psi to 35 and it lowered the frequency a little, but it is still loud.

yup.....switched from PS4S to DWS which I have now, but in VA I am realizing I really don't need the "S"

My PS4S are fairly quiet, even still at 25k.

From what I have read the Sport 02 is supposed to be a decent bit quieter. I would think you have uneven wear on yours, new tires plus no uneven wear should be a noticeable improvement.

I kept the OEM wheels for the few weeks we end up having snow/ice, and below freezing temps.

The tires are on, back to super quiet, definitely quieter than the PS4S when brand new, and also feel softer as well. The initial turn felt a lot crisper on the PS4S, this ones feel a little mute on the initial turn, but once on the turn, it grips the same as the PS4S. Now this is on street turns, turning from a frontage road into a street, not on track.

I actually read a review that said something similar. That the tires were softer in turns. But for road driving and not tracking, I think the biggest concern would be if they’re stickier and a true summer performance tire

The DW held on quite well on my 500/550 turbo GTO. Rears were 285/35/18. Rarely broke lose. I think that they are very similar in a straight line. I only have a stage 1 EQT DSG, so not a lot. I find these hold a little more, but I was running the OEM TC on the PS4S and now I have the COBB TC on.

Got my Skunkwerks grounding kit.

Gotta say, super easy to install even for me. My biggest issue is always how to get connectors open, but wasn't bad. Didn't have a pick so used the screwdriver from my glasses repair kit. Worked great.

Got a fresh set of engine + transmission mounts for the wookie. Going in as soon as this week along with some other fixes to address on-track issues.

Over the past several days: HVLP spray guns, 3M sticky tape (for that rear wing I keep talking about), a set of sawhorses, paint, and a small-ish inflatable paint booth. It is big enough for car parts, but not a car. I am still waiting on that and some VW LA7W paint. I did order some bondo to fix my bumper, but after seeing all damage on the lowest section that is reflex silver, I have decided to just order a new front bumper. This Saturday will be painting shenanigans, but won't be mounting anything until bumper and wing are all paint-cured and polished.

Make sure you have a proper respirator not just a face mask. They're not expensive at all and comfortable to wear yet I see people not using them. You don't need a full face, this will do: https://www.uline.com/Product/Detai...espirators/3M-6300-Half-Face-Respirator-Large

Are you using electric hvlp spray guns or compressed air? If you're using an oiled compressor you will need a filter to capture the oil particles that get in the air, if you're using an oil-free compressor or an electric hvlp then you're good.

Thanks for the link. Using air and I have filters already on my compressor.

I also got some JB weld epoxy for the crack in my sunroof surround. After that is cured and sanded, I may attempt to re-clear it, not sure. I have bad peel directly in front of the roof. Probably have to sand the whole thing, paint it black again and then clear it.

I have peel all the way across now. Only about a half inch, but it keeps getting bigger.
