S&B filter came in today to replace the IE filter for the V2 intake. Apparently the IE filter brings in alot of dirt and this filter filters wayy better then the IE. Ordered it 11/15 and got it today. This filter is a special order that you need to buy with S&B.

I’ll tell you this. This filter way bigger than the IE filter. Glad I did the purchase. Will install this week.

Part # R1267D

I swapped my summer tires (which are on Sparco Assetto Garas) last month and decided instead of driving around on the boat anchor stock wheels or swapping rubber to get these. Lol. Hopefully I will get them on sooner then the 8 months it took me to finally install the FMIC.

Haha... so we're in the same boat then. These M25s sure are pretty... but my full Stereo Integrity setup dream is fading.
Yeah I was really surprised how detailed and being metal the assembly is.

They def won’t work for the regular install on the A pillars though, then have to be mounted in the surface.

The other tweeters I used had a flange that I could glue to the back of the A pillars so they are hidden behind the factory grills

Yep, now I kind of wish I'd kept my gray pillars from when I did the black interior conversion. Not to reuse of course, but just to mess around with to see what a surface mount can look like.

The grill itself is pretty soft and it will conform to the flatness that would be created by cutting a hole and then using that threaded flange on the M25s. But then I don't even know if that flange will fit back there behind the grill.

Might try to find a beat up pillar on eBay.

yes sir. someone did a post bout it.
i can’t put the link but its from a mk7 facebook group. here’s a copy and paste.

“This post is an update to the lack of filtration of fine dirt/dust of the standard IE V2 intake filter. The symptom was the IE filter allowed large enough dirt to enter the intake tube to be visible on the inside of the tube after only 2500 miles. I ordered a custom S&B filter to test fit and flow test since they have much finer media. Today the filter came in and I ran some promising preliminary flow tests comparing the filters. The tests were crude/basic, but I believe fair. The S&B filter had much finer media to trap small dirt/debris. S&b had about twice the number of pleats (100 vs 52) and is 1" longer as well. It has well over twice the media (500sq in of media vs 208 sq in) which will help make up for the finer filtration and still allow high flow.

I completed two variations of the test. I did a baseline of the DeWalt leaf blower by itself and with the filters sealed on the blower inlet. The two variations were holding the flow meter mid stream at 8" away from the outlet and then putting it right in the stream touching the outlet. Both tests showed similar results with the S&B filter being slightly out performed by the IE filter. 4749cu ft/min vs 4730 cu ft/min. The IE clearly (but barely) flows more air so it would be best for max horsepower at a track. The S&B has much finer media and appears it will out perform the IE filter in ability to capture fine dirt/dust and would be a much better choice for daily driving while still performing at 99.6% as good as the IE filter (flows 0.04%less air).

Please note, I am not bashing IE and do enjoy their products. IE also offers an alternative filter with more media (8 layers vs standard 6 layers) that is oiled that would filter better as well. I have not tested their 8 layer oiled filter. I prefer the dry disposable type from S&B due to the lack of a cleaning requirement. I also believe the non oiled S&B will last longer between changes due to the high number of pleats (100).

S&B stocks only a few and so is sometimes made to order (can take 2-4 weeks). I received one in 3 days and a second is being built and will be shipped when made. S&B part number is R1267D
IE harsh climate filter link (I haven't tested this one yet, but more layers of media than the standard kit filter and it comes oiled. It also has a pre filter screen):”

You need to call to place the order. They are based out in California.

From my experience it took about 2.5 weeks to receive a tracking number and it debited my bank account late as well. Give them a call.

New tails landed. Knowing me it'll be 6+ months before I get a chance to install them 😑
Yea I waited too, then was mad at myself for waiting once I saw it all done and lit up those dynamic blinkers. Did you get the harness too?
