Probably swapping out my Conti ECS tires this week. Less than 10k mi in them but the car has developed a loud hum at highway speeds. I’ve rotated them, balanced them, had alignment checked, did a bunch of sound dampening. The only thing that helps is to drastically underinflate them and even then it only helps a little. Only when I swap on my track tires does the hum go away completely. Only thing I can guess is the tires are the culprit. Hoping Discount Tire will give me some sort of prorated refund or deal…

Not sure what to move to. I hear the ECS 02 are good but read a review about high pitched noise on the highway. MPS4S seem to have noisy tread growl issues on certain roads. Falken FK510 seem to be consistently rated as quite and smooth with grip that’s only just a bit behind MSP4S, so that might be the ticket.

Sounds like you have a bubble on one of the tires. I had one do this and it hummed like crazy, so I just replaced the tire.

I have rotated the tires and it had no effect. the tires have also been inspected. I think it’s the tread playing with natural resonances in the car, or the tread itself. Cavity resonance is a likely culprit based on the noise frequency.

yes, I too use big words to sound more photosynthesis :p (lloyd rule)

lots of measuring, but might be about to pick up a second set of my wheels but in 18x9 et45, so I can stuff a 245 wide tire on there. Jury seems to be out on if it'll rub or not though, so measuring is going to be a factor. Currently on 18x8, kicking myself for not doing 8.5 the first time around but here we are.

Im in the same boat, also in Florida... not sure what to get.... its either the ECS 02, the PS4S or wait for the PSS5....Or here me out... the regular PS5, if you can get your hands in one... they are taking forever to come to the US.

edit: There is also the Goodyear options, the new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 just came out... and a new Super Sport... but they always seem to lag behind the Michelins and Contis on all tests... more noise, worse threadwear, worse preformance, etc... Its not like you are giving up something for something else, its usually worse in all categories lol

My vote goes for the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. Second year on them and I couldn't be happier. Ran through different sound dampening before I got the Eagle F1s. My brand new snow tires are much louder...

"2023 Tire Reviews Performance Tire Test - 3rd of 6 tires

Positive - The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 showcased its versatility by blending the safe understeer balance of the Michelin and Continental with sporty handling. Its predictable and fast performance made it a strong all-round choice, particularly for the Golf GTI. It was also the best tire at worn state during the wet braking test, had great comfort and low wear.
Negative - The Asymmetric 6 is a hard tire to find a negative about, but on track it doesn't seem to have the heat resistance the Asymmetric 5 had.
Overall - Another very impressive result for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, proving to be the most consistent tire across all categories."

I tried that spec already. It rubs.

Went to Discount today and they were able to offer me a prorated credit on my tires. Unfortunately, the cost difference to replace them with PS4S is still pretty high, considering I just bought the tires less than 10k mi ago. So I'm gonna go with the FK510's. Pretty low cost. It may be a slight downgrade traction-wise, but if it solves the noise issue, then I'll be happy.

After fixing the camber up front with the new euro sport street camber kit, I had the alignment shop add some - camber to the rear. The 245s on a 9” wide wheel with +42 offset look great imo

My vote goes for the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6.

Yeah if you look at the test results, the difference between the top 3 tires are really marginal... it might just be down to availability for me....
Where did you buy yours...? Its so hard to find 235/35R19 tires, especially the new models from European brands...

Goodyear being an American brand, I would expect the F1 Asy 6 to be sold everywhere in various sizes, especially since its been out for a couple of years already, but thats not the case.... the Conti Premium Contact 7 (and the PSS5) is basically non existent in the US market, there is some sizes from the Sport Contact 7 and also the PS5 out there as mentioned earlier, but not my size...

For me the choices available at the moment, other then getting the old top dog PS4S (which I havent tried yet, just bothers me to pay so much for a 7 year old tire), is the Conti EC 02 (USDM tire) or if I can find them, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6

Has anyone every used this site? https://www.mlperformanceusa.com/pr...symmetric-6-235-35-r19-91y-summer-tyre-581519

$138 per tire? It has to be a scam right? lol

This one is more believable, and moddedeuros is a known site... but they keep pushing the availability date, so I doubt they will actually have them to ship any time soon:
