Thank you for the info. I took it back late yesterday. They rode with and heard it. Put it on the lift and loosened the big bolt on the dog bone mount bushing and he said he watched the engine shift/settle into position. Torqued it back down and he test drove it quick and said it should be good now. I have not had a chance to test it again myself. He mentioned he took the subframe off when he installed the downpipe so it probably had something to do with that.

Otherwise the tune seems happy. Zero knock anyway. I’ll have to post a log once I can actually put my foot down.

Glad they got it sorted. But yeah. Like others have said. Subframe off usually equals an alignment.

They took the subframe off? How'd they keep things aligned, or did you get an alignment after?
They didn’t mention doing any alignment check afterward. I guess I’m going to have to ask about it. I have to take it back for them to put the O2 spacer on anyway. I got the P0420 on the way to work this morning. Tried clearing it but came back after 2 key cycles.

Oh that’s great. I didn’t even realize. How do I bring that up? I’ve already been back there for two screw ups.
You don’t bring it up… cut your loses and don’t take it there anymore. It’s really not sounding like the right place to have working on your car for modifications, they should already no better than to not unbolt the frame unless they plan to realign it, and not to mention you don’t need to drop the subframe to do a downpipe… I do my DP swap annual on my car cause I have to put the stock back on for smog and can tell you even with a beefy trackslag 4” DP (getting stock back in and out is harder) and on a PP car you don’t have to drop or loosen the subframe.

But regardless - you should take the car in for an alignment (if they offer the service i wouldn’t have them do it, as they surely are a toe n go type *sets the cars toe only and called it a day)

I know the prop shaft causes a little more difficulty on the Golf R’s, but yeah I hear you. It’s too bad really. This is the only euro shop in my area aside from the dealership (who are sticklers when it comes to modified vehicles). I’ve used another euro shop before but they’re 120 miles away. Maybe this is my cue to finally get some quick jacks and start doing things myself.

Can this o2 spacer be installed from the top side? Or is it easier from underneath?

From the top. Might be a pain though.

You can do it from the top. You’re going to need patience. And your arms gonna contort oddly but you’re able to do it in small turns. Get the O2 space angled the way you want, and then do the maneuver with the O2 sensor wiring, twirling it left before you plug it in that way, as you screw the O2 sensor and the wiring unravel itself. Did this on my trackslag when I got it…. was throwing the same code and after my adjustment, it has not come back

This. It’s a pain

Got gas and checked my tires 5/32 before the winter time probably time to replace them.. Only got less than 20k out of these DWS 06+, but I drive it hard :'D Either getting another set of DWS' or the Michelin Pilot 4AS or whatever they're called..

Also looking at replacing the MK7 as the DD really pissed at how many cares lack spares now.

Not my GTI, but my son's GTI. After a year plus of him owning this car (his previous GTI got totaled in an accident) that came with VW Thule roof & bike racks (that he did not want or use), but no key. Was going to drill them out, but was able to pick the locks with a pick set, flat head screwdriver and a rubber mallet.

Changed the oil, cleaned the engine bay, added seafoam, added coolant, washed the car, and installed my old diffuser. Was going to install his US Millworks offset front plate holder, but of course a piece is not missing after more than a year of sitting un-installed.

Took the opportunity to take a few pics of both of our GTI's and one with my wife's Tiguan (almost a VW family, save for my daughter and her Dodge Journey).

When all done treated myself to a Tree House Brewing Creamsicle IPA. One of my favorites.

Fired up Simos Tools to see what was up with the so called misfire-cut out the other day when I hit it in second. Initially at idle, about 30 ssconds after start, she misfired once. I let her idle and get up to temp, then went for a drive, watching the misfire gauge viewer as often as I could. I got one pull in and she took off without a hitch through the whole pull as far as I can tell. I guess that day I bumped the RAL and didnt realize it. Im going to a cars n coffee in Houston tomorrow, so we will see how that goes.

Edit: Attaching log for those that would like to see. Looks like I was only about 80% throttle.

New truck got 17.1mpg on its first tank, not bad for 450 miles of around town driving (still had a 1/3 tank left to go).

Finished the Mk7 oil pan, and Dr Dan picked up his 928.

The first buyer in line for my OBS backed out today, so we’ll see if buyer two is serious.

I definitely wouldn’t be upset about keeping it, but also don’t need four vehicles.
