It seems a little confusing..are they made by two different manufacturers

Here are the updated part numbers as I know them. The first number is for GTI (and probably base Golf). The second is for Golf R.

VWR31G7
VWR31G70R

Yeah those were the part numbers I found as well but I had them mixed up a little.

VWR31G7 is what I am getting for my GTI. Supposedly it's a revision of these part numbers you listed

Still working on selling my WRX so I won't be installing them as quickly as I would like.

Ordered a few tools off eBay as well and waiting on them to come in. M14 triple square, strut spreader, etc.

Yeah I don't normally pay people to do this kind of work. At most I would pay to have the springs swapped out of the front struts, but I have a compressor.

I like to get to know my car and also clean while I'm under there.
