Can you get to the plug without taking off a plastic cover under the car?

Yes fantastic isn't it?!
I've got ramps.
I've got a Oil Extractor.

But ramps + gravity is still the way to go for a homeowners.
Are ramps easy to use without scraping on this car? They didn't work well on mk6.

Does it matter which way the filter goes in? Is the same whether in one way or the other?

any concern to wait till the complimentary 10k mi. at VW for first oil change? i did that to previous BMW and Benz and no issues... but people keep tellling me to change it at 5k...

Probably not. My wife's saab had its first change at 12k courtesy of the dealer. Has 130k and still going strong. That being said there is some value to get the break in oil out sooner. Check around bob is the oil guy for more info.
 
Is there such a thing in the Mk7 or any others, of a BREAK in oil?
Would VW not put this information in the Front page of the owners manual or for those feeling left out on the back page. The oil in these engines are the oil recommend for these engines. I'm sticking with the recommended schedule.
