Head is trashed. Looks like the engine was starved.

How did that engine go/what symptoms did it have? Curious what happened

Co-part auction. Listed as runs and drives. Minor scratches and dents. Planed on spending 7-8k. Bid got ran up to 14k and wasn't backing down, after taxes and fees 18k.

Showed up seized. Planned on re listing on co-part but found your thread.
Cant justify 10k-12k for a new long block.

Moral of story, if its to good to be true.. it usually is.

Well, actually time will tell. It’s been holding up pretty good so far though.

My previous engine was burning ~1qt of oil every 200ish miles so I should’ve known better before I went hybrid/E85. This engine hasn’t had any oil consumption issues that I’ve noticed, and the motor feels super healthy, even at these power levels.

Looking forward to you enjoying the R man. I’m sure the engine will be solid ~

No, it hasn't been bored, car was completely stock. They just never showed up for a oil change is what i'm guessing. I plan on keeping it stock with the alibaba motor. Probably drive it 10k then sell it.

Not sure if this was the case, but if a private party was selling it on Copart they could've made an attempt to conceal or misrepresent the car.

Whenever I'm looking on Copart I effectively limit my search to cars being sold by insurance in attempt to reduce risk. That said I usually end up just purchasing through IAAI as basically everything there is from insurance

So you paid 18k for a salvage R…dude…thankfully the ali motor will save you if you do the install yourself.

Piston cleaning 12 hours in the ultra sonic cleaner.. not to bad. One piston no Bueno.
