On GTI's I've found that the stock fuel system is fine for our turbo on pump gas. Nothing being left on the table at that point. For Golf R's we generally need to upgrade the HPFP for pump gas and both HPFP and LPFP for Ethanol.

Why is it different?

Thanks, Ed! This is good to know and consider when estimating the overall cost to upgrade.

My guess is more parasitic loss on the AWD. If you want similar power output to the wheels as a GTI you need more fuel. The HPFP must be the limiting factor before the Golf R injectors (that are a bit bigger than GTIs).

Diggs, on the R I believe it’s because of the saddle tank. At least that’s what I remember people saying.

That's a great question that we haven't been able to fully answer yet. The R does have different injectors and significantly different fueling calculation strategy. I'm not sure if the HPFP is different, but it seems to run out of steam significantly before the GTI's. My own R was even having a hard time keeping up with the IS38 on pump gas before upgrading the HPFP.

Nope... I run all R's in FWD here anyway. But it has nothing to do with drivetrain losses.

L450, EQT and L500 bolt up and use stock lines, and UM would be happy to tune any of them. With port injection and flex fuel you should see killer power, especially from the EQT and L500.

The LM500 is not one I've done much research on. I tried to at one point but the limited info I could find was in German. Price point is well above these two also. Only speculation here, but if it's using the same hot side, I can't imagine there's a huge variance in compressor compared with EQT and the L500.

You can do the EQT pre-order for $1845 shippped with the muffler delete and charge pipes. I'm not sure it makes any sense to pay $3200 for the German version which has no US distribution or support in the US, and probably is very close power wise. Unless someone has more info on this turbo that changes the equation...

thanks for the insight hoon, and definitely like the vid sugar! i will keep a look out on this thread as it's piqued my curiosity...thanks again!

ED would you still the upgradedHPFP on the R if you have the port injection w/1300cc inj (basically ROW fueling but larger inj's.)? also walbro450 LPFP. thanks.

Interesting. I have a 2015 S3 pump and my own 2015 GTI pump. They both have the same part number and revision. 06L127025N

No need to add stress on the cam with the HPFP, just spray whatever you need through those 1300s

Probably no reason to upgrade it if you have enough fuel on the low pressure side.
