Tracked the VW for the first time since installing the APR springs. It’s a Christmas miracle - my tires surivived and still have some fake Khumo tread left. The springs have now paid for themselves twice over.

Managed a few 1:01s at Lime Rock. I’m sure it could get down to a minute flat, but I’m just vibing.

Front pads had their backing plates very warped. Single piston brakes don’t really make sense in a car of this size…

I’m planning on taking my car to a SCCA Time Trial or two, and would like to stay in the S3 class, so no major upgrades for me. I’ve ordered a set of Ti shims, hopefully those at least help with the fluid heat.

Brembos is will be sick, the car needs more brakes.

The best solution to any VW shortcomings is to drive the Miata instead :)

Speaking of which, I just got my shims in the mail. Visually, the fitment looks good, I'll post the dxf file once I put them on my car and verify that they don't suck.

Did a haldex fluid change and checked the pump filter mesh at 110k miles. I hadn't removed the pump in 60k miles and the mesh was was spotless with no debris. I think there's a reason that the VW service manual never mentions cleaning it...

Finished off the season at Club Motorsports. Put together a 1:44.3, which is actually a few tenths faster than my miata. Golf continues to be both reliable and very good at destroying tires

Also, seems like my Ti shims have been effective, zero issues with fluid fade since installing them

I would be too distracted with the scenery to actually drive. That course is beautiful.

Finally got around to installing the front sway bar that I bought last year. Working on a lift, the install was fairly easy. New bar is 100% more red and the front-outer wheel feels more supported when pushed through a highway onramp. Hopefully it shows improvements in laptime and tire wear.

Impressions of the front sway bar and Bridgestone Potenza Race tires: The front felt a little more composed when loading it up on corner entry, and I didn't notice any significant issues putting down power on exit as a result. The Potenza Race tires are pretty fun, less sidewall support than I was hoping for, but they rotated nicely and only seemed to lose around 0.7s pace or so once overheated.
