Tons of heavy fabrication & the Cummins flat bed is officially mounted for the last time.
Still need to do some wiring, more chassis paint (from underneath), exhaust, interior work, final installation of the grille & a few odds & ends in the bay.
Aaaand a fuel system, brakes, suspension, ect. Yeah, it’s a lot of work doing a restoration but now I can drive it & make room for a few Mk7 projects that have been patiently waiting.

Finally concluded my right headlight is done (Ed's rep). Hit a hole at a gas station couple of months ago. DRLs started flickering occasionally. And they would go out once low beams were turned on. I figure something happened to the unit supplying power to the DRL, and the current for the low beams, which creates a magnetic field, interferes with the DRL operation. Looks like Osrams are in the future for me.
On a good note, i learned that i don't need to fully remove the bumper to swap out headlights.

I’m excited for you, for the Osrams. My MK6 Reps from Ed were pretty piss poor out the box. Always flickered and shook, the housings peeled after a few months, yeah lol

To be honest, Ed's reps have been fine for me. Compared to halogens they are great. Never had the flicker until that incident. But i am excited about the Osrams. The car is 5+ years old and i can't believe I'm buying new headlights for it.

Thanks! I actually found the isolator that fell off, but I’ve got that in my notes for when one goes missing for good!

Took it to vote yesterday, went full nerd and took photos walking back (got made fun of by the wife).
One time a kid in another GTI and I pulled into Target at the same time. We had a brief discussion about tires walking through the parking lot.
My wife called us nerds and refused be seen near us
