Odd 7.5 euro tail behavior

Emailed Ed about this issue, but covering my bases in case anyone has a quick fix for me.

Recently installed OEM 7.5 tails from Ed at BEC autoparts, used his harness and coded via his instructions. Noticed this strange behavior in the reflection of a building I was parking in front of the other day.

Lights function normally, brake lights and running lights all work, but when releasing my foot from the brake, the entire bottom section of LEDs lights up to the brake light brightness. Not the end of the world.. just jarring. Attaching photos below.

Thanks for the pics. The coding for Leuchte20 looks okay to me. That's indeed odd. To my knowledge the parking light on the outer tails have three rows. The top row iluminates with the parking lights on, and stays on w/ parking lights on and brake lights on. Second and third row change their pattern and brightness from two rows to 6 double dots depending on parking light or brake light. Changing the value of "Leuchte23SL HLC10-Dimmwert AB 23" (Parking light left) doesn't change the brightness.

Do you have the European VW OEM tails or are these the Chinese VW OEM parts? At this point I don't suspect this to be the route cause. You said the behaviour is the same on both sides, that makes me believe it's not a random faulty light.

I have seen flickering brake lights w/ parking lights on if "Leuchte20BR LA71-Dimmwert AB 20 = 100" and "Leuchte23SL HLC10-Dimmwert AB 23 = 127". What's the current value of "Leuchte23SL HLC10-Dimmwert AB 23" in your car? Is it < 127 ? If possible please share the Leuchte23 settings as pics (like Leuchte20).

They’re the OEM Chinese market. Yeah it’s very strange that i can’t find a reproduction of this behavior anywhere online. Ed doesn’t know what’s going on either.

Appreciate it. Wiring and coding for brake light and parking light are as expected for European tails, nothing suspicious. Don’t know if the Chinese market lights are different in any way. Do you somebody around you w/ the European lights for a simple tail light swap? Just check if the odd thing moves with the lights?

got a friend a couple hours away with euro market tails. I'll ask him and see what we can work out. I'll report back.

Got up with my friend, we swapped tails and the behavior follows the tail lights. I'll be contacting Ed, thank you for your help, Zero!

Because I'm curious, is this with the updated harnesses? My harnesses should be arriving today (also Ed's, and also a 7.5) and I'm trying to cover all my bases ahead of time so that installation goes as smoothly as possible.

I got my Euro 7.5 lights from him for my 7.5 R with his harness. What I did was connect everything up and do the coding to test everything before I started pulling apart the trunk to run the cables in their permanent spots. Everything worked as should on my set.
