Front Brake Caliper Bolts,
I had read, but cannot confirm that the front brake caliper bolts need to be replaced as they are one time use bolts.
Is this correct?

However the rear caliper bolts can reuse?

Then, the carrier bolts need to be tightened to 147.5 ft. Lbs. of torque.
The Caliper bolts to 25.81 ft. lbs. of torque.
Also what size torx bit for the rotor mounting screw?
Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.
First brake job i have done since i owned a 69 Chevy Nova, back in 1997.

I went to the dealer asking parts counter for the caliper bolts and they only had one in stock. Parts guy said they do not and are not supposed to replace them.

If the manual say torque to xxxNM plus xxx* turn it’s a stretch bolt and should be replaced.

If the manual just gives you a torque it’s not a stretch bolt

So.. i guess i should have said.. check my sig first. Then answer.

There was such a thing as parking brakes in 1969, disk brakes also.

Parts counter guy? all bolts eventually wear out... would probably have to replace them if that happens.

I dont have a manual, but i remember there was a VW GTI Manual in PDF form floating around these forums at one point.

So MK7 2016, Autobahn w/PP.
Should be the same brakes as the Golf R.

Should have the same caliper bolt torque as Golf R.

Not trying to be argumentative, But i see..Not Qualified...
No, and Yes. Would like it to me a little more cut and dry.

Will give it another day and check back.

Appreciate the replies !

Are you reading something I can’t see? Lol

The Fed asked a question, the other guy after him said no they’re not, and I explained why you answered your own question. If the manual doesn’t give you a torque plus an additional turn to a set degree it’s not a stretch bolt...meaning it’s not one time use

Very "odd" replies so far in this thread…..hmmm not spot on :D.

Should have the same caliper bolt torque as Golf R. Same as for Golf R.

Front brakes:
Carrier bolts need to be tightened to 147.5 ft. Lbs. of torque. Yes (200Nm)
Caliper bolts to 25.81 ft. lbs. of torque. Yes (35Nm).

When you buy OEM pads the caliper bolts are included. They are preapplied with treadlocker, green stuff.
Non of them are stretch bolts. You can reuse them (why not?). Put some treadlocker on the caliper bolts if you use the old ones.

Did the job two Days ago on my R.

This is what I found out also. Reference Deutsche Auto videos on front and rear PP brakes. Big help.

I find it odd that the front are not stretch bolts but rear are?
Anyone know why? And getting the rear bolts to the 90deg turn is hard on jack stands.
The rears are harder to reach with torque wrench.

Don't know why, but, I just got doofy like 25 inch breaker bar and did this job on jack stands and it made life a dream. Couldn't inside doing this brake job with a short handle wrench, I'm a big dude and I don't have the power lol

I have a breaker bar but it is not ratcheted so on the rears it is not much help. The 90 deg turn on the rears was tough on stands. I had to use a 2x4 as a lever.

I used a floor jack, propped the handle in the cup and jacked it up till i could hit that 200Nm on the front.

Have to do the rears today, my carrier bolts didnt come into the dealer till yesterday evening.

Should go quick.. off to do it now.. haha, 6:30 in the a.m.
