On Ebay there is a few people selling Golf R Engines for about £3,000 or less.
Other than the engine what should be upgraded.
Obviously things like the Gearbox.
Don't tell me to sell my TSI or buy a R.
As I can spend my money as I want.
Could someone help price out the parts.
Planning on going above OEM where it makes sense.
Keeping the car cosmeticly a Base Model.

I think you need to compile a draft list with your own research and then ask people for suggestions.

Would Haldex be needed. Not concerned about 4 wheel drive.

Happy to pay someone to help with researching parts and working out which parts for oem and which to go beyond.

Already had a T4 rebuild with upgraded new Engine new paint job. I did about 40% of the work.
Definitely like projects.

good luck with this and in B4 the Lock

edit: and just to be honestly somewhat helpful. You have an idea of what it is and it's practicality. If you really want to do this go talk with an independent VW specialist garage. To get real help from them it'll cost some $ because the amount of time figuring everything out is substantial.

I offer this much more simple solution even though it is unsolicited.

Seek out used Golf R for 20k or so.

Get heat gun.

Take off R badge.

Trying to turn the TSi into the R is called bringing the mountain to Mohammed.

Go to the mountain bro, it will not come to you.

Mission accomplished.

Exactly what Asked not to do.
I have done crazy Engine swaps before.

If you are already going thru the trouble and money, why not something like a VR6? no offense to R owners here lol but surely theres better engine options if you are already down to rip everything out?

Basically you are building a Clubsport (R engine without AWD)

You are UK based..so want ever you do you will have to inform DVLA as the engine capacity will not match the DVLA records..& insurance will be interesting also..

You will need a whole front end basically...& (rear brakes)

engine
gearbox
drivers side (UK) 2wd take off flange/drive shaft to replace AWD prop shaft take off box (between gearbox & drivers side drive shaft)
lower bumper oil cooler
lower DSG cooler if going DSG
wiring looms
ECU
Dash clocks
Whole braking package from R or GTi PP..or at least R rears & Porsche Macan fronts
Aluminium front hub carriers
New front struts,
New front wheel bearings

You don't state which "TSI" you have..so if it is a base model that has torsion beam rear you'll need a whole multi-link rear subframe/suspension also...

If you are having DSG then you have to fit the two aux coolers (which are in the two lower "R" ducts somewhere...if Manual gearbox, then just get a Mocal or VWRacing Aux cooler to sit in the central lower grill...

Access to someone who can perform component protection removal & key the alarm & make the electronics talk to each other instead of immobilising the whole car, also code out the AWD system.
