Battery Died Today

When I replaced my battery I did not have to re-program anything. With VCDS let car know that battery was changed and larger capacity battery used. Battery data is in Can Gateway. Great DIY on larger capacity battery. https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7926 I purchased a battery at Costco; they use Interstate.

Apparently a dealer local to me is selling that for $36 on their site right now. I wonder if I should get it while it's cheap...haven't replaced my battery yet, but my car's approaching 2 years.

So I just noticed that my original battery was actually 59ah and not 67ah which my car was originally coded for. I wonder if this caused the failure, and if others may also have the same incorrect amp hour coding configuration.
Good question. My new battery is 58 AH. The tech didn't mention it was coded wrong. It was replaced under the basic 3/36 warranty so it might not have been worth mentioning or it was the same size as the original. It's still the "small" battery. The decal says 340 DIN.
