Can someone do me a favor? A while back someone compared two dtr revision videos to show the improvements. Now i wanna know how my b8 s4 stage 1 compares to the mk7 r with the dtr.

Both of these are 0-90 pulls. The s4 doesnt have launch control or 'sport mode'. Just in intake and stage 1. Lol
Only other difference is the temp, it was 87° with the mk7 and its mid 30s today in the s4.

Hell if anyone wants to get crazy what was the fastest ca rof the bunch?
Heres one of my mk6 k04

B8.5 manual, stage 1, but not really a launch from a dig
Same for my old cobalt, not really a launch but hey. Yes, second gear takes you to 80mph and 3rd to about 120 lol

Jesus and I thought the Mk7 GTI had tall gears. 120 in 3rd is crazy. Ripe for extra power lol

They're only five speeds and the reason the turbo ones have such long gears is because during development, the test driver suggested being able to hit 60 in second gear.

The supercharged cars run 4.05 final drives(along with the turbo HHR SS) and the turbo ones have 3.82

Long gears are cool and all until you start flexing transmission cases and nuking Saab transmissions lol

There is a quaife 6-speed gear set that needs a donor gear box and there's also a 4.45 swap that basically makes it a 4 speed with a granny gear

Good cars, easy to make fast. Miss my shit box sometimes. Don't miss only having like one mildly senile old guy for actual good go fast parts though.

Stock turbo can flow about 42 lbs/min

That's the same as the Garrett 2260 out for MQBs

Ecotecs have the worlds shittiest flowing heads though but a stock turbo LNF with a tune, a downpipe, and a hot side charge pipe can 350-380 to the wheels all day long

Imma go back to lurking now before my Cobalt reputation precedes me.

Great platform and drivetrain and shell, shitty car otherwise

Got a great deal on some shiny bits from a local MQB group member. Any bets on if it’ll make any performance gains with the DTR like APR claims?

Jk, I don’t care it’s just there to look pretty :p

Nice. I had the older version on my mk6 for a while and liked it. I’m looking at getting the blaze performance intake but it does not fit the dtr (it is one continuous pipe with a built in adapter for factory and some hybrid turbos). Some have modded it to fit other turbos and if I get the dtr I’ll likely do similar.

I was thinking of getting IE's V2 intake since I thought the Blaze intake wouldn't fit the DTR.

Out of the box no. There is some talk of them offering a more factory hose option for non standard turbo inlet flanges. And a few have modded them to fit other turbos. I am still up in the air if I will go a vortex though

On the pedal tuner....a whole lot of not understanding how they work or folks that haven't ever tried one in the comments. It's not just "push it harder/faster"...the video below from Sprint Booster shows it perfectly....I love my BMS pedal tuner...a HUGE driveability improvement with the DSG. I run mine on max. I have a graph posted below that I made from logging that shows the behavior as well. Also of note....the % pedal to output voltage for the accelerator pedal switch IS linear...everyone says they want a linear throttle....you already have it (kind of!)...but what you don't have is the throttle plate movement to pedal movement as being linear. What you want is like the curves show...a whole lot of voltage really quick in the travel like the video shows to get that plate to move faster - you can stab that pedal all you want folks, it's not opening that throttle plate any faster but go ahead and keep thinking these don't do anything ahhaha

No gains, but I did tie my PB 60-130 back to back.

Throttle feels more responsive and I seemed to break the tires loose more, not sure if it’s the CAI or just the temperature drop.

FYI all of the pedal vs TPS maps on the MK7 are rpm and torque request percentage based, not position based AT ALL. Also there are 4 different maps for high speed vs low speed (IIRC the switchover is around 40-45mph?) Plus sport vs drive mode.

So basically you need to test it at every RPM and every potential load to gather accurate data.

And it will vary tune to tune because all kinds of fuckery can be done with the pedal vs torque request tables. Including making torque targets the same from idle to redline (even though impossible to hit in some cases), limit overall power via boost, and map the throttle from 0-100% to be perfectly linear since the torque requests work as a percentage of pedal position vs torque target.

This is basically a JB4 vs. real flash tune discussion for your pedal/throttle/torque request. The pedal tuner is simple and works but as you point out, it's not changing anything else but the pedal switch output voltage. I'm sure the more sophisticated mapping you can do within the ECU is a far superior way to achieve what we are talking about and likely more smooth and has many more variables such speed-based request etc. I definatley recommend folks trying a pedal box at some point, it's so darn simple and makes the driving experience much better and you adapt to it quickly. The big win for me is driving in D....I almost never use S anymore around town b/c I can actually get the gears to hold/not upshift so quickly as well as force the downshifts more smoothly without having to push deep into the pedal travel to get them then back off quickly as boost builds too quickly...just easier to modulate all of it now is the bottom line for me.
