If you ditch the APR tune I think you'll be much happier. On my GTI I have stock fueling, twintercooler, cobb downpipe, and a tune I made on opensource (low torque to I don't nuke the stock clutch) and power is dead consistent.

Anyone know of an aftermarket charge pipe that fits the DTR6054 outlet and the DO88 intercooler couplers? APR sells their own piping of course, but it's designed for their more restrictive intercooler inlet.

Quick update - I've been running a flex-tune by Stratified, since July (~6 months). EQT MPI 980cc, EQT sensors, EQT LPFP, Cobb flex fuel kit, Unitronic GESI-catted DP, Stratified DSG tune, 93 octane to E65. Spool is louder, exhaust note is deeper and much more aggressive, occasional light snap or pop on lift-off when in sport. Flex tune is OK but feels a bit unsettled when out of boost, and I don't know why they can't get me past E70 without a misfire - I know it can make more power. That said, the car is so traction-limited as-is, adding power wouldn't add much to the driving experience. Best 60-130 I've been able to hook up for is a 9.00s - it has more in it with proper traction, but I'm spinning above 60mph and ESC hasn't been coded out.

I bought some BFI stage 1 mounts to install at some point, and can have ECS fully coded-out with VCDS, but don't have any idea when that will be - not really in a rush. Car sets readiness with the Unitronic downpipe, and no CEL for several thousand miles now.

That's about it - just keeping it low-key for now and enjoying the car as my (finally) "re-reliable" daily✌️

Do you by chance have before/after dyno curves to see where the gains are? I'm trying to math out if the gains would be worth the cost of adding all the other parts.

Also, put the mounts in asap, they're a notable improvement.

Noted on the mounts, good to hear they do their job, I’ll probably do them in the spring/summer.

Those runs were on ~E60. No dyno unfortunately.

The cost definitely isn’t “worth it” in terms of bang for your buck, I knew that going in but I decided to see what I could squeeze out of it for science (for better or worse). I’m probably making 450-60whp tops, if I had to guess. You could make a lot more with a different turbo all other hardware/effort the same.

I’ve done some shenanigans with a Hellcat Challenger (stock), C8 vette, tuned MK8 Golf R, and a few other cars that well outclass the GTI in stock form, and it holds its own surprisingly well when it gets traction. Probably no more vids until I can get a clean 60-130 solidly in the 8s though. The car has much more in it, but I can literally feel it cutting power when it loses traction anywhere from 60-80mph and then kicking back in hard.

All-in-all the car is still a blast to drive, and I love that it’s still a sleeper. I don’t have any more plans for it after the stage 1 mounts.

At the end of the day - you’re only a little shy of “welp, guess I gotta build the engine” if you go with a bigger turbo. You’re probably close to the theoretical torque max on the stock block as is.
