And that Downpipe doesn't look any better than stock. Lol not saying it isn't better... But come on.
Don't agree. This DP even looks better than most aftermarket DPs
from the pics. A cat at that position isn't optmal anyway, but bear
in mind, this is the stock Euro position and for an ECE approval you
need to retain it.
I agree though that the pricing is beyond discussion. I don't see the
point in fitting a titanium exhaust system to a Golf. Akra does offer
an already quite expensive stainless steel system for the Mk.VI GTI
and I would have prefered a similar one for the Mk.VII.
My own preferences are on suspension mods though. The up to 310
HP R and TTS do come with a similar DP from factory as the GTI, so
I'm convinced the stock DP quite sufficient.
Modding a GTI doesn't need to be expensive. Get a map, if voiding
warranty isn't a concern, get DG springs for a mild lowering and ad
sway bars and proper summer tires for handling. These are examples
to get noticeable gains without spending a fortune.

I agree. this exhaust is gorgeous. Those guys do great work, but... It's still just a Golf

Absolutely, the cost to purchase that Akrapovic exhaust is enough to put you in a Golf R instead of a GTI. Or if you have a golf R, that price difference will almost put you in an Audi S3. Don't see the justification for spending that much, unless I owned a Ferrari and had money falling out of my pockets.

Agree 100%, beautiful unit with awesome weight reduction to boot. But anyone who can afford to drop this much money on a Golf exhaust wouldn't be driving a Golf to begin with lol.

That's a really shitty thing to do, but, yes.

In reality, any shop worth its salt will be able to make you an exhaust that performs just as well as this one.

Again, this is a Golf. It's not a super high performance race car where we need the extra 2whp that a "perfect" exhaust would give us.

Yes, some exhaust shops should be able to do this. I remember two companies
in Germany making similar beautiful stainless steel systems: F-Town and DTH.

Again, remember just the rear silencers are titanium, while DP and center part ar stainless.

Akrapovič has an awesome R&D department and their products are exceptionally well made. High end in every aspect! They manufacture for F1, MotoGP, DTM, Dakar...

Rear silencer is a thing of beauty. Amazing welds, carbon tips, and details. In combination with carbon diffuser it looks really good (It's a matter of tase, I know...).

My impressions:
Fitting took me about 1.5 hours (full system and diffuser). I can say that sound is just perfect for daily use. It is not too loud and of course there is no drone at all. I drove it for few months w/o the tune and there was a little but noticeable power gain.

But!... I also don't think all these pluses can justify the price (for a car like GTI is). It should be $2.5k, $3k top. Fortunately I had some luck with that :).
