According to the spiffy illustrated international pictogram instruction sheet, (which I'm sure SOMEONE will interpret as to take the wheel off while still on the ground

Or just use some removable double-sided tape (command strips?) to pull the existing caps off. Apply with a bunch/pinch in the middle of the strip to grab with pliers.
