I've never understood those plates that are off to one side. Don't they cause the car to pull to one side? They also look plain wrong there.

Pretty easy to understand: I didn't want holes drilled in my brand new car.

Here in the USA (probably in Canada and Mexico too), the cars come with a license plate bracket for center mounting but it requires drilling two holes in the bumper. I'm not sure how it works in Europe and Australia with your wider plates.

The bracket uses the tow hook hole to be mounted. People choose them instead of drilling holes in the bumper. Unless you’re straight highway driving I doubt you’ll notice any pulling.

The one I got uses clips that mount in the honeycomb grill. I looked at the tow hook variants and didn't like the look as much as the grill mounted one.

This. My '19 clips in to the grill too. Feels pretty stable. No drilling into the bumper required. Personally, I love the look of the tow hook mount, but in the city, I opt to run a small BumpTek licence plate guard for some protection (from people parallel parking into me).
