What Did You Drive Before You Drove A MKVII Golf, GTI or R?

My roommate's first car was an '85 Chrysler Lebarron....dear god lol. Needless to say as his only mechanically inclined friend(you bare the cross for life!) I got to learn that car very well. I never owned an 80s car, but I experienced the life of owning one. Close as I wish to get. Unless we're talking a 288 GTO, then that's different.

That's funny, because one of my friends owned a Lebarron as well.
But it was a giant 1979 Lebarron.
He kept it spotlessly immaculate though.
I remember those hulking giant two door 1980's American cars well.
The big three all had these creaking, rattling, massive doored, velour lined monsters.
My first functional 80's car was a '87 Sentra XE coupe.

2016 Volkswagen GTI, 2 door, pp, Stage 2, Clutch & Flywheel, Tires! Obviously my fav.

But really wish I kept my first car, the Rabbit!

Definitely a big change coming from the AMG to a GTi, but I truly enjoy the GTi more.

So far the GTI is my favorite car to drive. It's bone stock and I had a blast tearing up mountain roads last weekend, more than the previous cars gave (and most were modded). I do miss the GSX, though...

2005 Subaru Legacy GT 5 speed - biggest POS lemon of a car I ever owned
2012 Mazda 6 iSport - needed something cheap, big, decent mpg, reliable this fit the bill
2016 VW GTI - 10x better than the Legacy GT, 100x more fun to drive than Mazda 6.

First car: Salsa Red MK5 Jetta SEL, auto. My sister totaled it 2 weeks after i bought it, RIP my favorite car i've ever owned. One of those love at first sight things, but it wasn't meant to be...

Second: Brown MK6 Jetta SE, auto. Worst car i've owned, and felt so slighted by VW that there could be such a staunch disparity between consecutive generations in a car. Hated it so much, i paid 1300$ to end my lease early and get into this:

My MK6 GTI, first manual car, first proper love affair... but it was kinda a lemon. Had many warranty repairs done and when the warranty was running out and i still had 3 years of payments, i decided to start fresh with my current car, my Mk7.

Which i dont really love that much, but for many reasons that I dont blame the car for haha. I'm in the market for a DSG S model right now.
