Has VW changed the spec of UK cars?. Only today I passed a 15MY Gti with no xenons, and box standard non led drl's.. Really ruined look of the front. I love the u shape led drl's :D

Doubtful it was a UK GTI then...

What made you think it was an actual GTI and not a psuedo badged altered standard Golf.

I saw an Ireland registered GTD in the UK a couple of months back which was the same - maybe the one you saw was imported from another territory and re-registered here?

Yeah probably an import, maybe from Ireland as above they don't get Xenons standard.

UK spec is likely to be on the up soon with the addition of Sat Nav at last...

Unlikely to drop Xenons in the UK - UK Buyers kind of expect that kit - agree with J400uk - Sat Nav will probably be standard soon - or mirror link which would allow some kind of Sat Nav from your phone. Just spec a new UK Passat and you will get some idea of what's next for the Golf.

It's an oddity that Sat Nav is not standard on the performance Golfs, that said UK buyers love their bling, so it probably has to make way for that.

Not - sure no proof - so I await a good flaming.

It seems when they design the life cycle of a vehicle it gets a face lift at some stage and a trim upgrade or some extra kit.

I SUSPECT that the model life cycle includes planned upgrades in year 2 to renew interest but also as other newer rival models are produced to keep anyone comparing models to see the Golf as good value because of the standard kit.

I had one of the last run Escort Estates and for the time it was ' loaded with extras ' as standard to get them out of the showroom pending the release of the Focus.

Golf's tend be on shorter life cycles as opposed to a longer life cycle with a facelift - however that could be different with the Golf.

Waited 6 months for Gti with LP on options. Finally arrived and got told that upon delivery no xenons on it. Said that cannot opt for LP on standard Gti in Australia, only performance package. But it's standard on PP. So have to wait an extra 2 months for performance package now. Just cannot take liking in the golf without the xenons.
