As you may have heard, there is massive flooding in the philippines, caused by typhoon ondoy dumping a month's worth of rain in 12 hours, leaving over 100 people dead and missing and almost 300,000 displaced from their homes. as some of you know, i'm filipino, so this situation has really hit close to home (fortunately i don't have family in manila, but i have many friends that do). i'm broke as hell, but im donating whatever money i can to help.

edit: i dont know if anyone's heard, but the tropical cyclone "Pepeng" hit the philippines after ondoy, flooding another area of the philippines, and causing landslides, killing more people, and leaving more people homeless. as if the philippines has not gone through enough.

I was finally able to get a hold of my family in Marikina yesterday morning after a weekend of silence and anxiety. Everyone was ok, but their homes were all destroyed. Thank you for linking the Redcross donation site.

My prayers go out to everyone affected by this disaster.

Yeah I got word that my family was alright for the most part. So sad though...my uncle's house was completely destroyed and they lost everything. My aunt's first floor of her was flooded and all their cars were submerged in water. Thanks for the donation links. My family is gathering up funds to donate and sending balikbayan boxes of clothes to those in need.

its good to hear that your at least your family is okay. its just mindfuck, the idea of losing everything, and having to rebuild everything from scratch.

I too got in touch with some of my family. They are fine. One of my cousin's house was also submerged and everything was destroyed. Cars were under water =(
