When Covid was in full swing I bought in July 2020 my 07/2018 7.5R with just 7.000 miles. The previous owner just added some H&R springs and a Maxton front lip and spoiler.
The little modification, low millage and in my opinion best/necessary equipment made the purchase easy --> 3-door, no sunroof, no OPF, leather interior, digital dash and the performance package. The color was not as important but I hate black now. The car is always dirty:mad:

The next modifications were a KW Clubsport V4, a HGP 480Hp Stage 3 build with TÜV (very important in Germany!), a Wagner intercooler and Cup2s.

Fast forward I'm in the process of getting my engine build started.
As I have access to arguably the best rod and piston engineers around, I started to engineer my own engine internals.

Engine disassembly (bought the engine with just 500 miles):

As the stock Golf MK7R pistons do not show a real recess for the oil squirters I designed the first piston without one and got them 3D printed to check the clearance.
This was a little bit too tight for comfort....

So, I revised the design, got them printed again and everything was fine.
The final version with the rod looks like this:

The other parts for the engine build arrived in the meantime and I'm waiting to get my parts done to start machining and the assembly

Also on the way is a BBK with AP Racing 5000R calipers, Carbopad brake discs, some Verkline stuff and other smaller parts. I need also new wheels to fit the BBKo_O
For end of the year the plan is to lose some weight and get a Carbon hood, wider fenders and tailgate made (for the MK8 a Carbon hood, roof and tailgate are already available btw ;) ).

What is the HGP stage 3 consist of? And how do you like the wagner intercooler?

I'm curious where you end up finding a carbon fiber hood. Most options here are subpar or unknown quality.

The Wagner intercooler works really well. In normal cursing mode I'm 5-9°C over air temp and the max. I have seen was 16°C over air temp.
That's pretty good I would say.

The HGP kit consists:

- a modified stock air box
- their own designed compressor cover (more volume)
- bigger compressor and turbine
- bigger intake hose
- 3" exhaust from turbo to muffler with bigger cat
- a modified stock muffler
- HPFP
- sensors
- bigger charge pipe
- ECU and TCU tune

and I got the additional clutch package (but that's not really necessary).

I have someone which makes really, really good carbon stuff. It's not cheap but also not that expensive for the quality you get.
I try to get pictures of the MK8 stuff.

V4 clubsports are such an incredible set of coils. Totally transformed my ride. The same kind of leap from stock -> KW V3 non-clubsport from the V3.

He run his own business or just do it for fun? Can we get a name / website?

I'd love to run a carbon fiber hood but as previously mentioned it kinda seems like a crapshoot

You can buy them through me. I will sell them officially. BUT be aware for the MK7/7.5 there are no molds jet. So, this project will take a while.

What hood would you prefer?

- Stock hood just in Carbon?
- With vents?
- In "Optic Carbon" or to paint/to wrap over it? It's a price difference if the first layer has to be "perfect"

The carbon parts are made like the steel construction in multiple pieces. If the hood has an inner construction this will be moulded too (see the first picture).
That would be the same for a door or the trunk.

I love the artistry in a neat top layer. Leave them carbon hoods naked.

Does your buddy do vacuum infusion or is he/she using pre-preg?
