You'd be out of luck just installing some LED strips. There's always going to be wiring required to add the channels for colour.this is something that I am also considering doing ... but they have not provided instructions on where to connect the cables to the various pins ???

the ideal would be to find only the led strips to put inside the door trim... I tried to ask but they only sell the complete kit.
Have you checked to see if your BCM is compatible first? That's the biggest stumbling block for most, especially if you have a pre-facelift car.yes sure, but I meant to spend less ... I don't need plastic door strips.
I specifically asked the seller (doki store) if there are all the instructions for connecting the cables to the various pins of the control units ... let's see what he answers.
What's the part number? Very few BCMs support it.I think it is ... I've done so many retrofits that it would be a hoax if it weren't.
my bcm is high
my gateway is high
what should i check specifically?
5Q0 937 084 AN is too old for RGB ambient lighting. You need one of a few specific facelift BCMs, and it's NOT an easy swap!my bcm is this:

That's not the same part number...Just as an FYI, I have a facelift GTI and my BCM hardware number is the same: 5Q0 937 087 AN. I would try to code it manually and see what results you get. These are my BCM details from OBDeleven:
My GTI should have the right BCM, and I only need the coding so I can make the lights red. They probably glow white without coding?
Are they not selling just the lights package like I bought? I wasn't after the trims either as I wanted to keep mine, but technically it would be easier that way as far as installing the lights into the doors.
I guess if I had a lower series car I'd be interested in the full package with trims, but then probably wouldn't have the right BCM?
That's not the same part number...
Might I bring this to your attention:Ooops! I was looking at the "AN" part. My advice though is don't just instantly give up - haha. Check your adaptations to see if you have those values and enable them. My BCM numbers are not on your list, yet it supports colors.
