Shortly after that I was on a set of Rotiform SGN 19x8.5 ET45 with some spacers (5mm front). This setup was fun to look at but HEAVY (like 30lbs wheel heavy) and I'm not a fan of 19's either way. Big change from 17" track wheels too.

One of the tires developed a nasty sidewall bubble so I retired them, then I let someone borrow them and they were installed on an A4 and crushed by Son of Digger at the Hoonigan burn yard :sneaky:

Since I'm not a huge fan of 19's on the street, why not try them on the track?

Rotiform TUF Forged 19x8.5 ET 45, part of the RotiSpec series of off the shelf forged monoblock wheels. At about 20lbs a wheel they were light, and strong. Got a set of Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires my buddy had been storing for years and off to the track we go:

Against my better judgement I caved and got a carbon hood. Seibon TM Style:

Carbon is pretty so I got a little more, Verus Engineering Canards:

There was a brake upgrade. First stage was Macan calipers to take a little weight off, poorly painted black with black brembo logos:

Then I realized the StopTech rotors had seen some shit, so I lost some more weight with Neuspeed 340mm 2-piece. They did release a 345mm Macan brake upgrade package with larger rotors, but I've never had issues filing a bit of pad of the top when I swap. 65mm stud conversion as well.

There was some exhaust fiddling as well.

AWE set me up with a Track Edition exhaust. If you've never search this system out, it's basically just a straight pipe setup with 4 tips. Light, relatively inexpensive compared to the switch path setup, lets give it a shot!

Late Night install (the day it arrived after work, of course)

Okay I lasted about a week before I was sure I'd be arrested. When they say Track they mean it. Maybe with a stock downpipe it'd be livable, but even with the catted IE downpipe and a Vibrant resonator added to the midpipe it was INTENSE.

With no way to shut that system up I added the Switch Path muffler and valve and found peace once again. A little remote stuck to my center console allows me to be shouty, only when I want to. The car sounds good with the valve closed too, so no real downside.

I sort lost my mind on tuning at one point. In search of pops and bangs, plus that corn, I switched from my UM tune (which I'd had since about 2017) to EQT. Once they released their OTS E85 tune I was sold.

A LOT OF PICTURES LIKE THIS:
20210722_200923_Burst01.jpg

This setup was never dyno'd but HOLYSHIT it felt amazing. It smelled amazing too. Problem was the fuel mileage on full E85, with a 85 mile a day round trip commute I was filling up every 2 days. 19mpg on average, 21-ish tops, where I would see 26mpg on 91 before. It was tough to keep up because any little side trips I took meant hunting for E85 away from the pump down the street from my house.

It was about that time that a co-worker offered me a great deal on a brand new Racingline Stage 3 turbo, which I believe is basically a rebranded TTE525R. Sent that to EMD Auto for the install and remote tune with Ed at EQT. Long story short, the 91 octane tune was not what I expected. On a tough mustang dyno it was only 360whp. That's a tough pill to swallow when you just spent a lot of money on a turbo, tune and install.

20210928_112818_HDR.jpg

So then I spent more money on an E30 blend tune :ROFLMAO:

Ethanol sensor and P3 Gauge Interface installed prior to the retune:

At some point in 2021 I snuck into a TSW Wheel design meeting and whispered from the back "Hey guys, wouldn't it be great if we offered these 2 new flow formed wheels in an 18x9 ET45 for VW guys?"

After I was kicked out, the Imatra was released. At 20lbs and ~$325 a wheel you can finally have another option aside from Neuspeed haha. AND you can have them in blue.

Because of the lip style and fairly flat spoke profile the brake clearance with Macans isn't good (10mm spacer needed) but even with 255/35 Yokohama Apex V601s I made it work!

Remember when I said there were 2 new TSW wheel styles in 18x9 ET45? Enter the Kemora, and my current track setup:
PXL_20220428_023808709.jpg

Better brake clearance (only 5mm spacer needed, doesn't quite clear without) and lighter, plus a gloss finish so its easier to clean off the horrible track pad dust.

Then I did the only sensible thing and put reverse staggered Yokohama A052s on it. 265/35 Front, 235/40 Rear:

PXL_20220507_015849410.jpg

If you're looking for a light track setup, 235/40 A052s on these wheels are just 40lbs, putting the wheel at under 19lbs!
PXL_20220507_024334372.jpg

They fit, but the car had to be raised up about an inch, which wasn't the worst thing for handling and getting in and out of driveways.

Love how the car works at the track now. I was so happy with the setup I blew a fuel pump fuse at Auto Club right after I blew a ton of oil through my PCV braking down the front straight. I had to get flat towed back to the pits (thanks Raceseng tow hook!) and I was sure my engine shit the bed. That was fun. Swapped the 15amp fuse from the soundaktor, changed my underwear and finished the day strong!

19lbs for those 18x9’s is pretty sweet, my Neuspeed’s are 22lbs. Looking to upgrade in the Fall/Winter to something lighter in the same size.

That sinking feeling of wondering if you just blew your motor 🤣

Pretty sure retail is around $300 each too: https://www.tsw.com/alloy_wheels_kemora.php

I hadn't had PCV oil issues before that track day, and the session before I smoke screened at the end of the front straight, same spot. The next session I smoke screened then the dash lit up and I had no power. Car wouldn't restart and sounded horrible cranking. Fortunately I read the codes and it was just a $0.50 fuse 🙃

Thanks everyone! I'll apologize here for the 10-15 seconds of the dirtiest engine bay you've ever seen on a review video. My friends are not going to let that one go.

Watched your video today, thought I recognized the car from here.

Curious, saw that you were running the whiteline LCAs and now you're on the superpro bushings, is that with the stock LCAs?

Why did you change them up, for replacement ease?

Just curious, I have the whiteline LCAs and quite like them. Wish someone would make a sealed spherical bearing for the trailing bushing. Ran a set of those on a car before, they were life changing lol.
