Well the good news is the cluster works, with nav in the display, correct mileage, etc...

THIS is the display as I'd like to see it - looks identical to stock US-spec R, other than the red colors (an easy OBDeleven change if desired) - but what I like is the fuel & temp gauges, not showing E/F for fuel and C/H for coolant - but the more European style of 0-½-1 for fuel and actual temp in degrees F. Is it possible to do this on a US-spec cluster? The retrofit one shown above clearly isn't the USA p/n, based on the BRAKE idiot light icon.

What part number is your cluster?

This is from bbusato over on Ross Tech forum...
5G1 920 891 A is for the NA spec Golf R. You want this one: 5G1 920 791 A. Bezel is 5G0 857 189 B AAH.

5G1 920 791 is for the regular Golf/Variant/Alltrack...

I have 5G1 920 791 A, and my dash looks like this, I have temp in F and 0-1/2-F...

I'm sure I have the NA-spec one since it's factory. I suspect yours is the UK standard issue, since it's in mph (though I suppose any cluster can do mph/kph since it's just a display). Whatever the difference is, it's kinda surprising that they can't all display the same array of options. Oh well.

That is my cluster, the part # is 5G1920791A . I ordered from vwcarpart.com, and I was always under the impression it is a US spec model but I guess I can't confirm that.

I did do a lot of the coding changes to get the color/layout the way it appears, it's possible the fuel and temp gauges were changed via coding. I can get you my long coding if you are interested.

The giveaway is the BRAKE idiot light - just a symbol on the non-USA clusters, but the word PARK on the USA cluster. Apparently that version also produces the E/F C/H markings. I've already messed with the various display options via OBDeleven and those didn't change.

Hi
I bought an AID with 10,000 km on the odometer and my golf course at 30,000 km.
do you know if it is possible to increase the mileage of the new AID?

The AID (and analog dash as well, I believe) are only "new" when they have less than 100km on them... after that the mileage cannot be adjusted, not even forward. At least not through any normal methods. I have seen posts claiming that it can be done but never any first hand experience or details. Of course, changing mileage on non-new dashes is not something I would expect people to talk about freely.

Alright so I have the AID on hand and I ran the fiber optic cable in preparation for the swap. And I temporarily plugging In the AID just to see the mileage on it and I swapped my old cluster back. Now I’ve got an error for air bag, TPMS, ABS, traction control, and BRAKE. All of these light are on and won’t go away. How bad did I fuck up?

If you had the battery disconnected try driving the car around the block. Although usually the faults I get for disconnecting the battery disappear as I pull out of the garage.

I'm not sure about the BRAKE fault though, it could be an indication that your abs coding is cleared. Do you have an auto scan of the car? If so you just need to copy that coding back to the car.

Yeah we just went into the coding and it’s cleared. We did an auto scan before and put the codes back but now the only things not coming back are TPMS and Traction Control. And my car is a DSG and it no longer does the automatic creep when letting off the brakes

You may have to into the infotainment and reset your tire pressures to clear the TPMS fault. I don't have the DSG so I can't be much help with that.

The whole TPMS system is in error. I can’t set it. And ECS is still not active.
