Mine came with lojack as the dealership had it installed for their showroom car. I didn't want it, but they wouldn't take it off.

I recently went to a VW dealership that told me they have a special on Lojack ($200 off at $600) and that they are preinstalled on all their cars.

Are they really preinstalled or is it added on after the sale?

Personally, if someone steals mine, I never want to see it again. There's a reason I buy new cars, I don't like other people doing god knows what to them.

Car thieves normally ditch a hot (stolen) car in a safe place, like underground parking or a quiet residential neighborhood, and leave it for a day or two before going back. Let things cool. If your car is stolen and you have LoJack, you can often recover your car fully intact within hours.
