How does this mod list look, and what am I missing?

Hey, how are ya guys?

Gf's leaning towards a Golf as it offers more features off for a similar price, and me being me, doing my research ahead of time and complied a little mod list, though I don't have your actual experience and am curious about whatcha think

Short Shifter: https://www.dieselgeek.com/collections/vw-short-shifters/products/sigma-5-five-speed-short-shifter-for-mk5-mk6-and-mk7-vw
Springs - https://www.tirerack.com/suspension/suspension.jsp?make=H%26R&model=Sport+Spring+Set&group=Sport+Spring+Set&partNum=54786&autoMake=Volkswagen&autoModel=Golf+4-Door+1.8T&autoYear=2018&autoModClar=
Clutch Line -https://www.uspmotorsports.com/USP-Motorsports-Stainless-steel-clutch-line-Audi-VW-6spd.html
Intake Filter-https://afepower.com/afe-power-31-10254-magnum-flow-pro-dry-s-air-filter#applications
Rear Sway Bar - https://www.uspmotorsports.com/Adjustable-Solid-Rear-Sway-Bar-MQB.html
Mount Kit- https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts/ecs-performance-drivetrain-mount-kit/016372ecs0201kt/
Stainless Steel Brake Lines - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts/front-rear-exact-fit-stainless-steel-brake-lines-kit/008596ecs01akt/
Turbo Muffler Delete- https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts/turbo-muffler-delete-pipe-with-black-silicone-turbo-outlet-hose/019330ecs01-01kt/

Besides that, what other stuff should I add, like shiftter accessories and whatnot, as there are too many choices and I figured I'd narrow it down, plus anything I haven't thought about yet besides the main bolt on's (IC, DP, Tune, etc.)

Thanks for taking a look and have a great day!

Forgot to add, stuff like the TMD and filter are more misc. and this initial list is for parts for a road trip. I've made a similar list, but it was for a GTI and figure I could stock pile the cheaper stuff together instead of bigger ticket items like springs and sway bars, though again, I could be wrong

I personally wouldn’t buy any of that.

For the same money you could get an is20, downpipe and Jb4

Throw in a BFI dog bone insert for $40

You can remove the delay valve from the stock bleeder block for free.

For the stock intake you can open up the drivers side and ditch the snow guard for free.

Lowering springs are ok, VWR would be my suggestion, but I’d save that for after perfance mods.

All of this based on her wanting to mod the car of course. I always wanna mid my wife’s stuff, but she’s not for it so I don’t (anymore lol)

True True, but I forgot to add this is for the initial road trip, so most of them are smaller ticket items that would enhance the trip but stay on the safe side. That said, once we get back, I'll look into the bigger stuff

Oh snap, really? I'm gonna take a look now, also found the trans insert

True, gotta find the guide on that one again

For the stock intake you can open up the drivers side and ditch the snow guard for free.

Lemme find the guide on that one again, heard about it before. Question question though, does it affect things once there's snow, or naw?

Lowering springs are ok, VWR would be my suggestion, but I’d save that for after perfance mods.

Heard it's between them and H&R, hence me asking

My girl knows what she's getting into with me, actually part of the fun

Sorry to not clarify things before, but on the bright side, know I'm pointed in the right direction

Now to check out your FB and threads, see if there's anything I can add to my wish list for future mods

Your GF will let you mod her car? Or is she telling you that's what you should buy :p

As for the mods:
Short Shifter: mostly personal preference and budget. The DG is probably one of the more "notchy" options, very positive engagement, but a bit much for me personally. I went with the spulen short shift kit (https://www.uspmotorsports.com/SPULEN-Quick-Change-Short-Shifter-Kit-6spd.html), and solid nylon bushings (https://www.uspmotorsports.com/Torque-Solution-Shifter-Cable-Bushings-MK7-GTI.html). Can't really go wrong with DG though, plenty of happy customers.
Springs: Not much personal experience (yet). But I am considering H&R for my alltrack.
Clutch line: I don't think its necessary, especially on a stock clutch.
Intake filter: More of a sound enhancement, I did K&N drop in, but I don't think there will be any noticeable difference between brands. Stock box is actually quite good, so drop in is plenty for me.
Rear sway: No experience here. Not something I'll bother with unless i start autocrossing more often i think.
Mount kit: No experience yet, but do want to get a kit. I've been looking at the 034 street density kits (https://www.uspmotorsports.com/034-Motorsports-Motor-Mount-Pair-DensityLine-VW-MK5-MK6-GTI-Jetta-GLI-Golf-R-Audi-A3-TT-1176.html) since I can live without the billet construction aesthetics and I'm cheap, but the billet construction does look quite nice.
Stainless steel brake lines: Minor upgrade i think, brand probably not a huge deal, so get what you like. If you do upgrade the lines, I would also do the fluid. Better fluid is probably going to be more noticeable than the lines.
Turbo Muffler Delete: I don't think you'll notice the performance difference, but if you want the extra sound, go nuts.

Also this, though I'm skipping the downpipe for now since I'm not trying to push my is20 and engine to the limits yet.

Yeah for a 1.8T Jb4 and an is20 should definitely be at the top of anyone’s list. Cheap safe hp.

The downpipe is less critical for performance on a 1.8T, so for simplicity and emissions you’re not leaving as much power on the table as say a GTI or R.

Back to the OP watch my DKM stage 3 review it also reviews BFI stage 2 mounts. They’re the original and still the best you can buy for any generation of Volkswagen IMO.

If you watch my YouTube channel you’ll be itching for all kinds of mods lol, but the list above is a great start to enhancing an already very fun daily driver

I don't think he wants her to do is20, downpipe and jb4. Then her car would be faster than his A4 and Mustang.

Lmao, nothing wrong with some competition in the house.

Way back when we lived in Ohio my wife drove our MK6 stage 2 Jetta TDI and I drove a stock Golf TDI (slammed on 3sdm wheels).

Hers was definitely faster, but both being manual I had the driver mod advantage and still gapped her haha

Oh, I'll do all that, just gotta get back to Jersey first :p

Awesome sauce, wonder how it'll go once my gf's is20/dp/jb4

Looking at the list one thing that really jumps out as not worth it are the stainless steel brake lines. I doubt your GF plans to turn the golf into a track beast, and with what I'm assuming is a street car you should probably put the money elsewhere.

I just have a habit of installing them on all my cars, hence why they and mounts are there

Mounts are totally worth it. x2 for BFI. I ran their mounts on my MK4 and loved them. I've already ordered them for my MK7 and will be installing them in the coming weeks. As Jake mentioned, the dogbone insert makes a huge difference on these cars. Try that first and if you want to stiffen things more, take a look at the engine/trans mounts.

I'm in Jersey as well. Originally from down by you, but now up in Fort Lee. As far as how her car will be, She will be running with 12 second cars if she sets up a good map 6. My most recent run was a new Kia Stinger GT. had a couple of cars on it with a few gallons of e85 in the tank. The car has more potential yet as well. I believe 11's is possible with the right bolt ons and Maestro
