Help with HPFP install

Having difficulty with the autotek HPFP install.

I got the retainer out no problem with a bearing press but now I can't seem to remove the piston from the lower housing.
It has the top piece still on and I have no idea how to get it off the piston

That little piece on the end was holding the retainer. How did you get the retainer off with that still on there?

No idea used the bearing press till I heard a pop and the retainer came off. Was able to get this piece out by just leveraging it with a small wrench
