heated seats retrofit

Got a quick question for the Heated Seats Retrofit Masters in this thread:

I swapped the OEM heated seats in my 2015 TDI SE with GTI (heated) seats; the seats work (adjustments, heat etc.) but I didn't think to swap the airbags modules from the old seats, so now of course I have the airbag faults.

Is there anything I could do to get rid of the faults, other than the obvious

You could use a resistor to fool the ecu into thinking the inflator is there. But I would not recommend. Messing with airbags, seat belts, is a bad idea.

If I where you I would try and find air bags for the seats that came in the car and install those. That's what I did when I swapped CC seats. I used the gti inflators

They've swapped Mk7 seats with Mk7 seats, the airbags will be fine.

Airbag modules?? What faults have you got. Post an Autoscan.

NAR vehicles have the airbag module under the passenger seat, and it's hard coded to the VIN. You'd need VW to recode one if you swapped. You can't do it with VCDS/OBDeleven.

You can swap out the AC unit for the one with buttons without any additional programming. The buttons just won't do anything. The reason I know? Your existing AC unit without heated seats buttons already has the buttons and LEDs mounted on the PCB, it just has blanks where the user buttons would be. The circuit boards are the same whether or not you have heated seats.

So yeah, you can replace your AC unit with one with the visible buttons, direct swap, no programming necessary. You could even just swap the blanks for the labeled buttons but it would be more work than just swapping out the entire units.

But the REST feature is in the same place/button as the OFF switch on regular units. So probably thats why.

You will need to match the coding of the new unit to what your old unit had. VCDS or OBDEleven log, just copy over the long coding.
