Golf R wheel shears off !!

Very worrying to be honest.

For those of you that don't know, the front left alloy wheel on my Mk7 GTI has caved in slightly. The thread for this is in the wheel section.

Scary stuff!

Lets hope VW haven't used softer alloy like BMW did in the past !

My new wheel will be here on the 30th of this month. I'm going have the remaining 3 checked over too for piece of mind.

Lets hope nobody else has faults with their's !!

We don't know the reason of the break down of the Australian R rim. It could be anything so it’s not any meaning of guessing. Don’t be to pessimistic. Perhaps there is a physical explanation, something on the road or what ever..

Lol. They are hideous those bonnet bras.

But I do feel for the owner. I would be absolutely gutted waiting all that time throughout the build process, to then have a wheel shear off and cause ££££'s worth of damage.

Not clear if the wheel failed, causing a crash or the wheel damage is a result of a crash.

People have a tendency of "blame" culture these days and rarely accept liability for their behaviour, chances are the drivers poor driving caused this.
It would have taken some considerable force to do that to a wheel.
