This is for someone whose MIB1 head unit has failed and wants to replace. MIB1 was used in Golf and Golf GTI, Jetta etc in 2015 in the US. The MIB1 is perfect functional and cosmetically. It is $75 shipped within the Continental United States.
For $30 rental fee and $160 deposit (refunded when returned) you will also receive a keys to remove head unit, VAS5054 with OKI chipset and D-Link Dub E100 Network Adapter. This is everything required for someone with an ODIS subscription from VW to remotely remove component protection and reinstall the Functional Enablement Codes (FeC) associated with your VIN. Cost for this is between you and the folks that perform, but it should be quite reasonable as you are not purchasing the Car Play FeC through them (approximately $250). Jack was 85€/hour paid after everything is working, likely be done in an hour. IMO this is significantly better option of likely $200 out the door to replace your MIB1 Head unit then the dealer replacing with a new head unit $1,300 and a couple hours of shop time.
