For anyone wanting to run a 3" inlet with a non 3" intake

I recently purchased the Integrated Engineering turbo inlet pipe. On their website it clearly says that it will ONLY work with 3" aftermarket intakes. Clearly an effort to influence your purchase of their own intake as something as simple as a 3" to 2.75" silicone coupler will mate it to most intakes with a hard, non silicone inlet pipe.

My intake setup is the full APR intake. The carbon inlet pipe necks down to 2.75" and I used the coupler below.

This will also work with the ECS carbon inlet pipe, S&B, as well as any other 2.75" intakes.

My reason for inlet pipe choice was that I wanted a cast aluminum piece and APR's $140 price tag is just silly.

Ordered the pipe from Urotuning on a Wednesday and it was delivered that Friday. Best free shipping I've ever seen!

What's funny is they use a 3" but squeeze it down to 49mm. Those who need 3" (Hybrids) typically will also need more than 49mm for best efficiency.
Agreed. I have a friend that welds Aluminum that I'm going to have make a handful of hardpipes for anyone that wants to run a full 3" intake with APR to use with higher flowing turbos.

DBV2 has the best looking inlet out, but being American (or maybe Canadian?) made it’s a lot more money than most are willing to spend. Either way it’s not made in China so x2 the money.

If I had a worthy turbo I’d be all for it, but no need with my baby Is20 (and I got the sub par APR inlet for free)

Yeah with my IS20 I never thought to even get one but that one would have been my choice too.

the hybrid I got is bound to the inlet they have made specific to it. It’s sure looks like a piece of jewelry though I like the raw groves they leave in it.

This one is sized to the turbos enlarged inlet and still tapers out to match the factory 2 3/4 size.... Are there even hybrids that have a 3’ inlet looks like there not enough meat on the IHI body to even mill close to 3 inches.

Link to the turbo you’re running?

The tool path (grooved finish) definitely looks trick. 5 axis CNC is by far the least cost effective way to make that, especially if it’s cut from a billet which seems to be the case
