CTS vs IE intake

Hey guys,

Got a stock is20 gti and I'm looking for a CAI mainly for the beautiful intake noises. I'm stuck between the cts and ie intakes. Cost isn't a concern. I would just like to know which one is louder/sounds better. Any insight or experience with the intakes would be appreciated.

the AFE magnum force with the lid off is probably the loudest out there.

I just picked up the IE inlet and intake. Sounds great when you lay into the gas pedal. Also get a nice swoosh from the turbo and bypass valve.

I would recommend getting them both.

Big pipe, velocity stack, close to hood edge, open design - this one should be pretty sexy sounding. I would swap my current injen evo unit for this one if the inlet would work with my turbo.

I like the IE v2 air scoop design so I went with that one. I ran a couple of different $100 eBay intakes prior and pretty sure those were louder - the CTS intake would be the closest design to them. I think having more metal piping and a cone filter is what makes the difference. With that said I'm happy with the IE, still loud enough to hear with the windows up and has a more refined BOV noise

I have nothing else to compare it to but my Injen is extremely loud

IE uses a velocity stack and is very loud.

I have the CTS (everyone seems to hate on them) but I love it. I have the Autobahn and just removed the inner hood liner. It was loud before but now it sounds like it's sucking every ounce of air in the vicinity

That’s just silly. “I just wanted to” is a very good reason even if there are no performance gains.

What about my recommendation strays from the request? Maybe you should reread the original post or maybe I missed something.
