Also, can you get some close-ups of the battery terminal attached? I've read that I should run power to one of the terminals that comes out of hte fuse box, not the battery directly because that screw doesn't come off. Any advice on that?

Ran the power direct from the battery. The close to the battery, the better. Direct draw source is best source of power.

I definitely agree with that, but I read on VWVORTEX that the battery's nut that fits on the battery does not come back on after you take it off. did you experience that?

I jumped the ground for my lc2i from my amplifier.

To answer the original question, the 12V power outlets are switched with the ignition. I just soldered a wire to the back of the receptacle on the center pin to get key-on power. There are several to choose from
