Who said it was the same? I don't recall anyone. You said the drivetrain loss difference was 15%. I said it's more likely closer to 1-2%.

Which two specific models are you referring to that have a big difference in MPG?

Was curious. If drivetrain loss is same awd vs fwd.. wheres these big differances in mpg come from? Def not the 200lbs causing it alone

Are these the MPGs you're referring to? (See the bottom of the second page):

If so, it's a combination of the following:

A couple hundred pounds more weight for the Sportwagen 4Motion to move. That hurts gas mileage.

The DSG trans and 6-speed manual transmissions in the 4Motion are both shorter and more closely spaced than the 5-speed manual transmission and automatic in the FWD TSI. This means on average the 4Motion is always going to be turning a higher RPM, even just cruising down the highway.

And lastly, yes, the AWD system itself hurts gas mileage.

Yup. Dragy is awesome. Looking back at my other times and these were a bit slower. :/

They have a 6th gear final man. Pretty sure rpms similar. Differance is drivetrain loss. 25/34 vs 22/29 is a big deal. Telling you ok maybe 15% was a long shot but 10% drivetrain loss is very realistic.

The 6 speed manual is geared lower and the DSG is geared even lower. I don’t remember the exact numbers but the 4motion wagen is geared lower than the Golf R.

Basically the GTI is geared lower than the TSI. The R is lower than the GTI and the 4motion is lower than the R.

They didn't have data on 4motion manual at the time I bought my car so this is what I had. The GTI falls in between the TSI and Golf R. When you multiply the ratios with the final ratio you will get overall gearing per gear and there is a good difference.

Scaled 2800 full tank no rear seat, 3030 with my fatass. Lol. I can't get any traction but first two passes were 110 and 109 all of that coming from the back half. It has a lottttt more to give.
