One shot Drivers windows working intermittently

Now and again, the one shot button to wind down the drivers window fails to work.

When this happens, I have to hold the window button until the Windows unwound down completely.

Has anyone experienced this and if so what was the fix?

Keep the button pressed a few seconds after its down and then hold it up for a few seconds after you roll it back up. This will reset the pinch protection feature. If the problem persists you may have debris stuck in the track.

I have the exact same issue! One touch up to close, next time I start the car it will not one touch down. Seems to happen randomly, not every time. Tracking to see if you find a solution.

Can this reset be done on the other 3 windows also in the 4-drs Mk7's?

Just had my Driver's side window switch replaced under warranty @ Dealer. All the reset stuff failed to work. Took 5 days to get the part b/c I have a 2 door & they ceased selling 2drs in the States after the 2016 MY.

Mines going in next Saturday to get my passenger switch replaced as well. Seems like a pretty common issue.

I have the same issue... maybe I'll start looking for a replacement part so next time I have the door panel off and I can swap it out.

I'm on my 3rd window switch from the dealership under warranty and still having issues. The dealer told me they have other Mk7 GTIs that have the same problem. Must be fairly common. They have also tried just recoding the switch somehow (OBDII), and that seems to be a temporary fix sometimes.

I'd get it replaced under warranty again, but at this point the dealership doesn't seem too excited to replace it, and since my lease is up in a month, it doesn't seem worth the effort on my part, either...

Get it replaced right before your turn-in inspection.

Had the same thing happen. Dealer told me it's common and it's caused by extreme heat (south Florida summer in a black car). Replaced them and haven't had an issue since.

Me too. Told the dealer about it and they couldn't find a problem. And since it's random, I can't replicate the problem.

I don't think that's right... I had one replaced during a PA winter and the new one had the same issue from day 1.

For those who couldn't replicate it for the dealer: take a video and send it to them.
