Shocking revelations from page 2 revealed again on pages 5 and 6

Oh well, say what you want about the forum, but it is pretty entertaining most of the time. :p

Reiterating my point from a few pages ago, Ford would absolutely be off my list due to their spotty crash/safety record over the last few decades.

Just today major F150 recall around safety was announced. :D

http://www.thedrive.com/news/23394/ford-recalls-2-million-ford-f150s-due-to-risk-of-fire

We complain about leaking sunroofs, this is the 3rd black eye on Ford in the past 3 years due to major safety issues.

Here is the horrible crash test of the Ford F-150, driver goes to the hospital with major injuries. Chevy and Dodge you walk away.

Compare between supercab and crew cab, same year.

Here is the horrendous F150 crash test around 2000.

geez thats pretty horrendous. I knew they had a bunch of recalls but didn't realize their crash test scores were so low too.

In all fairness, the small overlap crash test is a difficult one to pass. The accident occurs outside the frame rails and is actually a very unusual accident (outside rails against a fixed object at speed) in real life. It does, however, show the difference between the different trucks and proves that bigger ain't better.

Happy wife, happy life.

Just get a motorcycle for yourself and the largest SUV you can afford for you wife. Boom happiness.

Apropos. Wife who makes silly demands (can't keep the GTI?) also would have no problem letting husband be on a "dangerous" motorcycle? Says a lot. It's a sad state of affairs indeed.

PS: I'm 40 and salty because finding good marriage material these days isn't easy, so I empathize for those who've settled. I'm trying not to, and weighing that against no progeny.

Not just the GTI forums. Men everywhere will react the same way when you tell them that your wife is making you sell a car that you love. A guy I know at work got married and changed his last name. I poured a few out for him when I got home after hearing that story.

Men everywhere don't throw around the misogyny that's been thrown around here the last few days in this thread and the Audi vs. GTI thread using gendered slurs and whatnot. There are reasonable questions about balancing what you want with what would make your spouse comfortable/happy, but those comments are not helpful and just make this community very unwelcoming for women.

How truly awful that that guy at work chose to do something that women are generally expected to do. Next thing you know he'll be making his own sandwiches! /s

As an FYI for the others out there.
We had a small human in the last couple years.
My wife needed a new car.

I talked her into a mk7 gti and she loves it. It's super safe from what I've seen in crash tests.

I sold my focus st for a mk7 of my own so we have matching ones. Double the safety. Double the fun.

The good old clash of people who care and people who don't give a fuck and want to watch the world burn.

A guy changing his last name though? Come on, that was totally worth calling out. Lol. That's something even most good women would have a problem with.

He didn't choose to change his name, she did. He didn't want to and he made that clear. How is it misoginistic to choose your own vehicle that you drive every day? There are workarounds. Nobody is forcing anyone to get in OP's car. At least I hope not.

It's not misogynistic to choose your own vehicle. It's all the comments about taming the wife and putting "pussy on a pedestal" etc. that are misogynistic.

Edit: And I'll make sure to start pouring one out every time one of my female friends changes her last name because it's important to her new husband.

I agree some comments are a little over the top, but let's please not pretend that both men and women havent been screwed over by all this fake "equality" feminist bs. Men and women have different roles, and virtues, biologically. Neither is "better" than the other, and both bring things to the table the other can't, generally. Anyway, not trying to derail anything, but it actually is pretty relevant to the subject really. Letting women dictate things in a marriage, that are outside their purview, will not end well.

Dude... This has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Stick to facts about VW Golf safety and either talk him out of it or don't.
