a bunch of them on Amazon, but all for BMW someone who's got a few bucks to spare could try one or two
there's 2 variations, one has deep sides, 1 shallow sides

You're probably correct. Looks like the console on the Audi slopes slightly, whereas the MK7 console is flat.

Here's the standard silver start/stop button that some people replace with the red one: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/start-stop-switch-chrome/8k0905217a/

I'm sure the red one might "fit" but it would stick up or look weird because it's sloped.

I have ordered one of the red aluminum "button covers" for less than $6 on the 'bay. I'll update on fitment once I get it.
As long as the diameter is correct and the car starts, I don't mind if it is a bit higher than OEM.
