Rear View Camera Not Retracting

So about 60 percent of the time, my rear view camera doesn't retract, which of course means I can't open the hatch.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what was it? HELP!

If you're still under warranty, dealer.

Make sure your brake lights are going off when you take the trans out of reverse, and that the Park Pilot reverse display goes away after driving forward over 9 MPH. If they work correctly you'll probably need a new latch because the motor or drive mechanism or pivot points are not right.

Thanks Fed! Yeah, display goes away, brake lights are working correctly. Warranty ended in October. First thing that's ever gone wrong. Figures!

If the rear latch has gone bad, I'm willing to bet a good dealer would "goodwill" this for you. And if not, a pleasant call to VWoA can go a long way in cases like this. Don't give up just yet!
