Daytime running ability

I've installed these updated mk7.5 gti helix headlights. How do you enable the daytime running light option? I've tried turning it on and off through the multimedia unit under car> settings> lights> daytime running light. No response. The only way the double L led daytime running lights turn on is if the parking lights or headlights are on. Maybe coding? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
