To me, yes it's a bit much. But I prefer a subtle look.

I like the way these badges look with the red border on a black badge. This link is for a MK6 but I know there are MK7 ones out there if you look.

The black-on-red bothered me for a number of reasons, but mainly because the red didn't match the stripe and it wasn't really the look I thought I would want.

Re-did that, now looks much better imo (excuse the yellow pollen dust everywhere [emoji40])

Excuse the British weather and splattered bugs, used a badgeskin on the GTD badge, looks so much better against the dark grille in my opinion.
