depends on the state but generally a public record. You can pull directly from the DMV or via an aggregator if you have access to one.

You can also call into the police dept. of that state and report the vehicle stolen as a prank.

gotcha, sounds similar to property ownership records as well.

bottom line is, you can't really "hide" anymore anyway. Years back, I used to blur out plates and such, but its really not worth it anymore. Plus, on the interwebz, is someone 2,000 miles away going to use your plate info to report a crime while you were at work or home 2,000 miles back at home and have a story that corraborates the same?

not really worried about it. People have less privacy on their FaceTube page every day.
