I believe they are also built in outer mongolia too and then transported by horse and cart.

Well it feels like that with the wait times.

My friend at work has said both Mexico & Germany.

Just curious is my UK 5 door manual GTD made in Germany?

Thanks, Rappy.

Yes, Wolfsburg. Somewhere on here there is a thread about production sites and how you can tell from the chassis number. Some Golfs are also built in Poland

TredGTD - I'm feeling your pain. I had 4.5 month wait for mine.

Its a long wait only made worse by looking at everyone's shiny motors on here.

“The new Golf is produced in Wolfsburg (Germany), Zwickau (Germany) , Foshan (China) and Puebla (Mexico)”.

According to information presented at by VAG SE 40 year GOLF anniversary last week.

I have one from Wolfsburg (Golf R) and one from Zwickau (Golf Estate), both delivered with very good finish :) .

Mine has a P in the chassis number which apparently indicates Mosel (Zwickau) in Germany.

Contrary to popular belief, not all European Golfs are (or at least were) built at Wolfsburg. Some time ago I saw a breakdown of Volkswagen VIN codes which enabled you to establish where your car was built. My Mk.6 1.4TSi 122PS Match was built at the Mosel (Zwickau) plant and not Wolfsburg.

Does anyone know where this can be found as I no longer have details of where I found it?

Does anyone know the current production breakdown? Are all Golfs for the European market now built in Wolfsburg or is there more than one line?

Can those of you who already have Mk.7 Golfs please check the 11th digit of their VIN and compare it to the plant list below ... ...

A - Ingolstadt, Germany
B - Brussels, Belgium
C - Chattanooga, USA
D - Bratislava, Slovakia
E - Emden, Germany
F - Ipiranga / Resende, Brazil
G - Graz, Austria
H - Hanover, Germany
K - Osnabrück, Germany
L - Lagos, Nigeria
M - Puebla, Mexico
N - Neckarsulm, Germany
P - Mosel, Germany
P - Anchieta, Brazil
R - Martorell, Spain
S - Salzgitter, Germany
T - Sarajevo, Yugoslavia (up to 1994)
T - Taubaté, Brazil
U - Uitenhage, South Africa
V - Westmoreland, USA (up to 1994)
V - Palmela, Portugal (from 1994)
W - Wolfsburg, Germany
