Tyre noise

My 2014 GTD has factory fit Bridgestone 225/40/18 all round. I replaced the front tyres at 18k with the same brand as I like to keep the car OEM.

The car has now done 25k and over the last 5k the rear of the car has developed a sound a lot like worn wheel bearings. I took it to VW last week and they confirmed it is the tyres.

I don't think this is acceptable - OK the car is 2 years old and they tyres have done 25k on the rear but they still have 5mm of tread left.

Anyone else had this issue?

I've contacted Bridgestone but so far they have ignored me. Pirelli P Zero next time for sure!

Hi Rappy,

Yes - swapped at the weekend and the noise is less 'boomy' but worse under braking. It is definitely the tyres.

You're still sticking with the GTD too then? (Its a great car with the map isn't it!)

I have the same on my rear with an older Dunlop.. ots got castling/ stepped tread. It's got 4mm left and was on the front so will just have to replace it or the pair..
